Our Story
Low fidelity printmaking is one of the oldest methods of making images by transferring ink from a prepared surface to a piece of paper with virtually any object imaginable. It’s simple! One day in my Los Angeles studio I was creating monotypes with printmaking ink and paper when I pulled out a foam plate I use to catch hot glue. I intuitively cut out a weird shape, added some lines and details with my finger nail and made my first lo-fi foam plate print on a piece of paper! Lightning struck!
Immediately I was cast back to elementary school where I remembered my imagination running wild when we were given foam plates, ink, and paper and inspired to make whatever our minds could conjure! I’m driven by creating playful, weird, and silly designs using on an old method dating back to the 6th and 7th century with Egyptian woodblock prints. The characters and designs I create are simple, direct, and infused with interesting lines, crude shapes, textures, and colors that I hope inspire the viewer to smile and travel into their own creative and playful mind.
I make everything from simple materials in small runs from a home studio that started in Los Angeles and migrated to Albuquerque New Mexico. To achieve an optimal design, I create hundreds of designs. Most end up discarded as I focus on making the best images after weeks and months of work so that every design is worth your enjoyment.
I hope you agree and love the designs as much as I enjoyed making them!
